A: A guide to love loss and desperation (2007)
L: 14th floor records (L->hidden transmission YT)
H: Liverpool England
Your listening to Secret Radio and Intimate transmission for your ears only. That was the Wombats from Livberpool England of of their debut album A guide to love loss and desperation. Man what a great it features such great tracks as kill the director and moving to new york but this week my process of psychic integration lead me to play that track celebrating the irony of Dancing to Joy division. I will share with you my process and inspiraiton, recently it was my bday and for the last number of years I have worn a uniform of black vans and black band t shirts most often my Joy Dvision unknown pleasure t shirt. But this year a pair of green Vans called to me. Something was calling to me branch out from my nihilistic fashion sense. This lead me to wonder was the Alternative fashion and music of the 80s and 90s all depressing? can one dance joyously to Gothic post punl band like Joy Dvision and the Cure. Travel with me in the next classic alternative set to Dark Warehouse where a younger me danced joyously to Goth and Post Punk.

Janes Addiction-Been Caught Stealing

We love our classic Alternative here on Secret Radio. The first two bands I played are often lampooned for being depressing but I think those two tracks show how much fun Goth and Postpunk can be. We ended the set with Janes Addiction and Been caught stealing Nirvana is often cited as the band that paved the way for grunge but before I anyone back than had heard of Nirvana it was Janes Addiction that was making waves by combining rock and altenrative the influence is unrecognized and that the lead singer pionered the 90s festival thing with Lollapalooza . . Anyways enough looking back at the past. I have put away my black Joy Divsion shirt a Vans and today am rocking bright green shoes with my soul motivators shirt. Here is some positive Soul to Motivate you with some good vibrations.

That was Church of Trees and I can’t be loved. I was going to discuss that track in relation to my anxious avoidant attatchment style buy I think those Eastern rythyms opened up my crown chakra and now the positive vibrations are preventing me form being my usual self deprecating self. Before that We heard aTina Leon from Montreal Quebec she has worked with everyone from Lionel Ritchie to Stevie Wonder and Just like the Soul Motivators draws her influcnces from the Motown era. The Sould Motivators started the set and they where in town and played the Blue Grotto. It was an intimate show and despite the small crowd Shahi the lead singer blew everyone away. Your listening to Secret Radio and this show is all about sending positive vibes to Secret Radios most loyal listener and favorite operative OP-1. Happy B day OP-1!

Some new and classic indie in that set on Secret Radio. Were all about the Indie rock her onf CFBX. We heard Saband from Vancouver citing the stoic ethic Tough it out and be a Man of their latest releae What you paid for. I started the set with Spoon who I remember discovering way back in 90s during my the heyday of campus radiotheyare from Austin Texas and that was their indie classic Anything you want going back to 2001 off their album Girls can tell. Can Girls Tell? Perhaps Strongboi answered provacativleywith their track Fool around off of there new album spoon bend encore. I like the title of that album it reminds of the emptiness of the self after all bending the spoon is only possible when you reaize it is not the spoon that bends but you then bends it is than that the ultimate realization occurs ther si no spoon. You know your listening to an Xer when…And now some cheese.

More Indie I have finally come to terms with the fact that I am more indie than punk.Modest Mouse I played Lampshades I first heard that album in The Book Place back in 2015 when stranger to ourselves came out. Nothing quite like listening to indie while browsing through the classics section. Started the set of with toronto artist Madelione bands PACKs we just heard theChesse off of their latested release Crispy Cruchy nothing. Speaking of positive psychic integration the silk stones track speaks to a recent insight I have had with the track “ I wont let you bother me now”Were you have not only my usual brand of self deprecatijng psycho babblem classic indie and alternative but also an assorted ecelectic selection other Genres that tickle my fancy. One style I usually end with is some form of electronic and back on 1995 samplers and computers where all the rage and it was the beginning of loop based music.It was during this time that Alan Sutherland from from Boston released this lo fi loop based classic on independent label UP records. Here is another Land of the Loops off of multi family garage sale, Remember kids a lot more happened in the 90s than grunge.. Until next week thus has been an intimate transmission for your ears only.
